I want you to know about one of those ideas where you will slap your forehead and say “Why didn’t I think of that?” It’s a new business called Rent a Green Box and if it doesn’t take off like crazy across this country in the next couple of years, I’ll eat my earth shoes.
Packing and moving ranks right up there with root canals and taxes as one of the most dreaded things you just can’t avoid. About 20% of the American population moves every year creating a massive amount of trash which ends up in the landfill. And up until now most of us packed our worldly goods in cardboard boxes for which we most likely paid dearly. Then once our precious stuff is unpacked, the boxes almost always get tossed out. I recycled my boxes back to my store because I could. Hopefully more of you are recycling too. If there were an option to replace cardboard boxes for my next move, I’d definitely vote for that.
For those of you in the L.A. area of California you now have that option. The rest of us will wait patiently until Rent a Green Box comes to our neighborhood. Spencer Brown is the founder and genius behind Rent a Green Box and the creator of Recopacks which are made from 100 % recycled plastic trash. Recopack stands for recycled ecological packing solution. Spencer’s solutions should revolutionize the moving industry.
By renting Recopacks you save money and time and the environment. Rent a Green Box will bring the boxes and supplies you need to your home a week before you move in their super green eco-trucks powered by waste vegetable oil and bio-fuel and they will pick them up at your new address a week after you move. There are several different size Recopacks and they have a box “buddha” who is there to help you figure out how many of what size Recopacks you’ll need. The website says “…his knowledge is priceless, legendary and free.”
Recopacks are cheaper than cardboard boxes, infinitely more convenient and benefit the environment by not using more trees for cardboard and by mining the trash from landfills for the materials used in making Recopacks. Win, win win!
You can also get other amazing packing supplies made from recycled materials so the whole packing process is green and nothing gets wasted. Go to Rent a Green Box and bookmark their site. I’m not moving again until I have Rent a Green Box service in my neighborhood.
