What time is it? Well by my watch it's time to jump up and down. It's a bit of a challenge typing this while I'm jumping but I can't help it. I just came across another wonderful company with a beautiful line of products.

American Forest's Global ReLeaf Campaign will plant 4.8 million trees in 43 projects in 14 states and 10 countries this year.
You may remember a post I did a while back about Sprout Watches where I raved about how cool they are and how you should definitely shop with them with me in mind at Christmas and in June for my birthday. Well, definitely do that and then swing over to WEWOOD and think of me as you shop their impressive catalog. I think the WEWOOD Date Brown (pictured) is my favorite today. The Saint Petersburg City Council voted unanimously to approve Waste Services of Florida Inc.'s bid for curbside recycling a couple of weeks ago. At least for folks who live in single family homes. Condo and apartment dwellers will have to wait a little longer but there is light at the end of the garbage can.
It's a voluntary service so you'll need to call Waste Service's Clearwater office at (727) 572-6800 to sign up. They will be delivering 18 gallon containers to those customers who have the foresight to take advantage of this very affordable service. You'll be charged a yearly fee of $33.00 which works out to be $2.75 a month for weekly pick-ups.
The good news, at least I'm celebrating this, is that they will be recycling ALL numbered plastics from 1 through 7. That means all the #5 plastics which are ubiquitous in the food and grocery industries will finally get recycled instead of going to the trash burner.
They will also pick up steel and aluminum cans; all glass; all fibrous materials, (but cardboard boxes must be broken down); newspapers; office paper; junk mail; phone books; and magazines. I think that includes all the oversized political postcards we're getting flooded with this year. I was going to form a boycott of advertisers who used Valpak to advertise but now that I can see that annoyance will be recycled I'll postpone that for a while.
If you decide you like to do it yourself, you can still do that. Remember the city recycling drop off centers only take plastics with the numbers 1 and 2.

I wanted to share the Holstee Manifesto with you. It is inspiring and thought provoking. Holstee is a newish company founded by brothers Mike and Dan in 2009. In the midst of our recession they did the unthinkable – they quit their jobs and started Holstee which designs and curates planet friendly gear.
Their flagship product is the Holstee t-shirt made of 100% recyled materials (plastic bottles and industrial scraps) and designed with their signature holster pocket. This is a well constructed t-shirt that has a custom cut and form fitting design.
Holstee now has an eco-friendly line of other cool products you can see here. Their whole company philosophy is one to be emulated. Beyond being super eco-conscious about production and packaging and shipping they have teamed up with one of my favorite organizations. These guys are leading the way and people are paying attention. I expect to see this business model copied well into the future.

I want you to know about one of those ideas where you will slap your forehead and say “Why didn’t I think of that?” It’s a new business called Rent a Green Box and if it doesn’t take off like crazy across this country in the next couple of years, I’ll eat my earth shoes.
Packing and moving ranks right up there with root canals and taxes as one of the most dreaded things you just can’t avoid. I recycled my boxes back to my store because I could. Hopefully more of you are recycling too. If there were an option to replace cardboard boxes for my next move, I’d definitely vote for that.
